Claudius Reimann (born May 21, 1969 in Marl ) is a German saxophonist . His focus is on improvisation , jazz and performance .

Career

Reimann received lessons in accordion , piano , saxophone , improvisation and harmony . In 1986 he received an award from the Berlin Senate at the national competition for meeting young songwriters . In 1990 he founded the artist group ASIMASOGRA . This was followed by comprehensive art activities in the Recklinghausen district and a CD production in which Claudius Reimann set texts by Norbert Kühne to music using improvisation .

In 1997 the jazz duo 2 from Sogra City came into being , which played at the opening of the Ruhr Festival in 2003. The made-up word Sogra appears again and again in his work. In 2005 he founded the performance ensemble Sograett with the dancer Wiebke Harder. Reimann himself describes his increasingly prepared and modified saxophones and clarinets as sografons .

In 2006 he published extracts from his diaries under the title I feel sogra over which the Jazzpodium writes: ". In 2012 Reimann had his second guest appearance at ExtraSchicht and also entered into a musical dialogue with the sculptures by Magdalena Abakanowicz and Laura Ford in the Textile Museum Bocholt at the invitation of the LWL-Industriemuseum . He took over the musical direction for two performances with staged readings by and with Michael Molsner . In 2013 Claudius Reimann improvised with gongs and sografon for Heinz Cymontkowski's solo exhibition in the Worpswede artists' colony . He recorded the accordion for the punk band Hass for their 2014 album Kacktus . The concept album 2nd floor was released shortly afterwards in a duo with clarinetist Katharina Bohlen .

In 2015 it became literary again. Reimann's novel "Is this jazz or can it be over?" An original and lovable story about a musician career, which was also produced as a radio play. In 2017 Reimann performed 3 concerts with tenor and soprano saxophone as a soloist with the Essen Vocal Ensemble under the musical direction of Georg Dücker .

In 2018 and 2019 Reimann had other guest performances as part of the Ruhr Festival and was responsible for the musical design of productions by Theater Gegenruck .
