Laura Gröll (born April 11, 1998 in Lauf ad Pegnitz , Bavaria ) is a German athlete who has specialized in the high jump and also competed in gymnastics and athletics .

career path

Gröll attended the Eckental high school and graduated from high school in 2017. She then moved to Munich and has been studying health management at the Technical University since then .

Athletic career

Laura Gröll has been doing gymnastics for SC Eckenhaid since she was a child and competed at regional and German all- around championships in six- and eight-fights , half of which consisted of gymnastics and track and field disciplines . At the same time she practiced athletics with her parade high jump discipline for many years at LG Eckental with the ASV Forth home club .

2016 SC Eckenhaid was the first to congratulate a club member as a German champion in its history, in September, as Gröll had in Bruchsal the title in the age group 18-19 in the eight-fight fetched. Before that, she came 4th in the track and field season at the U20 indoor championships and was German U20 runner-up with a jump of 1.80 meters .

In 2017, Gröll twice improved the Bavarian U20 indoor record to the last 1.88 m. With 1.82 m she was German U20 indoor runner-up . Because of her performance, she received an invitation to the U20 indoor international match Germany-France-Italy in Halle (Saale) , where she made her debut in the national jersey and contributed to the team victory with a 2nd place in the individual ranking. In the open-air season, Gröll won bronze at the German championships and the German U20 championships . In autumn she went to Munich to study and shortly afterwards also changed clubs. A protracted metatarsal fracture prevented Gröll from seamlessly building on her previous successes and heights.

In January 2018, Gröll again had pain in her foot that she had known from a stress fracture in 2015. Nevertheless, she competed in the university hall championships in February and was runner-up in 1: 56.26 min with the second season of the TU Munich. In the high jump, however, Gröll remained without a valid attempt. In the high jump, however, Gröll remained without a valid attempt. As a result of the foot injury, she had to cancel the outdoor season almost completely.

In 2019, she started again at the university championships in May and finished 9th with 1.70 m.

In 2020 Gröll jumped over 1.80 meters again in a row after the long injury phase. She was Bavarian indoor champion and with a personal season best of 1.86 m German indoor champion .

Laura Gröll belonged to the perspective squad of the German Athletics Association (DLV) until 2017/2018 and to the junior squad 1 U23 in 2018/2019 . In 2019/2020 she was initially no longer in the squad. After her success at the Indoor Championships, the DLV added her back to the junior squad 1 U23 in March 2020.

Club affiliations and trainers

Gröll has been working for LG Stadtwerke München / USC Munich since 2018 , where she trains with Sebastian Kneifel. Before that, she worked for many years at LG Eckental / ASV Forth with a coaching team led by Günter Ruppert. At the same time, she had been a member of SC Eckenhaid since she was a child .
