Laura Manolache (born May 11, 1959 in Bucharest ) is a Romanian musicologist , author , editor , editor and composer .

life and work

Born in 1959 in Bucharest, Laura Manolache studied composition with the Romanian pianist and composer Myriam Marbe (1992), with the film composer Tiberiu Olah (1994–2001) and Doina Rotaru (2001–2002). She graduated from the National Music University of Bucharest (UNMB), at the Institute for Musicology (1982) and Composition (2002), she attended the Darmstadt Summer Courses (1990) and received the DAAD research grant - for the Institute for Musicology at the University of Cologne ( 1992-1993). She has had a doctorate since 1995. She studied the film music works of the Romanian composers Vladimir Cosma , Roman Vlad and Tiberiu Olah and worked at the Institute for Musicology at the University of Osnabrück (1999, 2004) - and the "M. Elias" scholarship of the Romanian Academy - Institute for Musicology at the University of Vienna (1996).

Her work includes instrumental and chamber music including three symphonies. In 1998 she was awarded second prize at the National University Chamber Music Contest (1998 String Quartet). And in 1999 she won the Grand Prix International Composition Contest with the work "Aperto" (the trio "Priviri" for violin, clarinet and piano). Most of her works have been performed in concerts and festivals both in Romania and in other countries in Europe and America . As a musicologist, she has published numerous works, including books about the composer George Enescu .

Laura Manolache is a member of the Composers and Musicologists of Romania (UCMR, 1984) and the Romanian section of the International Society for New Music (SNR-SIMC, 1991). Her work has been recorded by the Romanian Broadcasting Company and published by Editura Muzicală. She is also director of the International Enescu Society.

Laura Manolache lives and works in Bucharest.
