Laura Marling
Laura Beatrice Marling (* 1. February 1990 in Eversley , Hampshire , England ) is a British folk - pop - singer .
Career
Marling went on tour with Adam Green and Jamie T , among others , who personally invited them to join him on his 2007 tour after seeing their second gig ever. In February 2008 she released her debut album Alas, I Cannot Swim , which made it into the UK album charts.
Before her solo career, Marling was a member of the folk rock band Noah and the Whale , which she co-founded in 2006. She was in a relationship with Marcus Mumford , the singer of Mumford & Sons , until winter 2010 .
In 2011 Laura Marling received a BRIT Award for “Best British Solo Artist”. In February of the same year she received an NME Award for Best Solo Artist from the New Musical Express .
Marling's song What He Wrote from her 2010 album I Speak Because I Can plays a central role in the award-winning Hungarian film Body and Soul (2017) .
Laura Marling is featured with two songs on the soundtrack for the BBC series Peaky Blinders , released in 2019 ( What He Wrote and A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall ).
