Laura "Laurie" Tavares (born December 12, 1965 in Newark ) is a former American biathlete .

Laura Tavares made her debut in the Biathlon World Cup in the 1992/93 season and was 33rd in a sprint in Östersund . It was not until shortly before the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer that Tavares in Antholz was the 18th of an individual to achieve World Cup points for the first time in the 1993/94 season . At the Games, it was used in two races. In singles, she was 32nd, with Beth Coats , Joan Miller Smith and Joan Guetschow , she was eighth in the season. A little later she was with Gillian Sharp , Joan Miller Smith and Beth Coats at the Biathlon World Championships in 1994 in Canmore , where only the non-Olympic team competition was carried out fifth. After the end of the season, she ended her active biathlon career. 1997 and 1998 she contested several FIS races in North America.
