Lauren Lane

Lauren Lane (born February 2, 1961 in Oklahoma City , Oklahoma ) is an American television and stage actress . She became known through the role of CC Babcock in the television series Die Nanny (1993-1999).

Life

Lauren Lane grew up in Texas . She earned a bachelor's degree in drama from the University of Texas and a master's degree from the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco.

After completing her studies, Lane began her professional career in various regional theater productions. She gained her first experience in front of the camera with roles in the movies Interface (1984) and Positive ID - Eine Frau sucht rot (1986). In 1989 and 1991 she had guest roles on the television series Hunter . She then played a recurring role as Julie Rayburn in the LA Law series . This was followed by other guest roles in the series South Beach (1993) and Burke's Law (1995).

She gained international fame in the role of CC Babcock in the sitcom The Nanny , which she played in six seasons with 145 episodes from 1993 to 1999. In the series, she was seen alongside Fran Drescher and Charles Shaughnessy, among others. CC's battles with the butler Niles (played by Daniel Davis ) became legendary .

Parallel to the sitcom, she played other guest roles in series, including 1999 in Partners . After The Nanny ended in 1999, Lane was rarely seen in front of the camera. Since then she has mainly worked as a stage actress.

In 2000 she also designed a handbag collection with Ben Shepard in Los Angeles.

She is currently a lecturer in the Department of Acting, Texas State University .

Personal

Lane has a daughter from a now divorced marriage. Because of her pregnancy, she was absent from several episodes of The Nanny .
