Madeline Rose Zima (born September 16, 1985 in New Haven , Connecticut ) is an American actress and film producer who became famous for her role as Grace Sheffield in the sitcom The Nanny .

life and career

Madeline Zima is the eldest daughter of Marie and Dennis Zima. She has two younger sisters, Vanessa and Yvonne , who are also actresses. Her last name means "winter" in numerous Slavic languages.

Zima began her career at the age of 24 months with an appearance in a commercial for the fabric softener brand Downy . She then appeared in several local commercials in New York City . In 1992 she made her feature film debut in the thriller The Hand on the Cradle .

She gained notoriety through the sitcom The Nanny , in which she played the role of Grace Sheffield from 1993 to 1999 . One of her best-known films is the love comedy Cinderella Story (2004) with Hilary Duff . She has also appeared in numerous guest roles in successful series, including Gilmore Girls (2001), A Heavenly Family (2003), Ghost Whisperer - Voices from Beyond (2007) and Grey's Anatomy (2007).

From 2007 to 2011, Zima played the role of Mia Lewis , a precocious teenager, in the television series Californication on the side of David Duchovny and Natascha McElhone . She was part of the regular cast of the first and second seasons and had a guest role in seasons three and four. From 2009 to 2010 she was in the series Heroes as Gretchen Berg , the bisexual friend of Claire Bennet ( Hayden Panettiere ) to see. In 2009 she played the role of Jill in the horror film The Collector - He Always Takes One . In 2010 she starred in My Own Love Song alongside Renée Zellweger and Forest Whitaker .
