Laurenz Böggering (born January 30, 1904 in Bocholt- Lowick, † January 10, 1996 in Münster ) was a German clergyman and auxiliary bishop in the diocese of Münster .

Life

Laurenz Böggering was born in Lowick (now in Bocholt ). He attended the municipal high school there and graduated from high school in 1923. He studied theology in Freiburg and Münster and was ordained a priest on February 23, 1929 in Münster . His first Mass he celebrated on April 1 in St. George's parish in Bocholt. Years in Duisburg, Haltern, Telgte and Freckenhorst followed. In 1954 Böggering became vicar general in Münster.

On July 25, 1967 he was appointed by Pope Paul VI. appointed auxiliary bishop in Münster and titular bishop of Mathara in Numidia . The episcopal ordination by Bishop Joseph Höffner took place on September 24, 1967. Co- consecrators were the auxiliary bishops Heinrich Baaken and Heinrich Tenhumberg . In addition to his duties as auxiliary bishop, Böggering u. a. the Universal Church Unit of the Vicariate General.

On February 23, 1979 , Pope John Paul II accepted his resignation, submitted for reasons of age .

Laurenz Böggering died on January 10, 1996 at the age of 91. He was a member of the Catholic student union K.St.V. Brisgovia Freiburg.
