Lauri Peters

Lauri Peters (* 2. July 1943 in Detroit , Michigan , as Patricia Peterson ) is an American actress and dancer in theater, film and television. She starred in several movies like Mr. Hobbs on Vacation , Holiday for You and Me, or Darling .

life and career

Lauri Peters was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1943. As a teenage performer, she quickly established herself as an actress and dancer in roles on Broadway in New York, including the Broadway productions First Impressions and The Sound of Music in 1959, for the latter of which she received a Tony Award nomination for Best in 1960 Supporting or Featured Actress in a Musical . She was also seen in the 1964 play A Murderer Among Us and 1968 in the performance of The House of Atreus .

At the beginning of the 1960s she also started a career as an actress in film and television. She was only seen in a few roles in the cinema. In 1962 she made her screen debut in Henry Koster's family comedy Mr. Hobbs is on vacation at the side of James Stewart , Maureen O'Hara and Fabian as daughter Katey. A year later she was seen in the musical Holiday for you and me by director Peter Yates alongside singer and fellow actor Cliff Richard . In 1968 she made her last movie, directed by Daniel Mann, the romantic comedy Liebling, starring Sidney Poitier , Abbey Lincoln and Beau Bridges .

Her television appearances between 1963 and 1973 included appearances in episodes of well-known series, including: The Nurses (1963), Smoking Colts (1964), The Road West (1967), Ghost Story (1972) and The Delphi Bureau (1973).

From 1962 to 1967 she was married to the American actor Jon Voight , whom she met through her work on Broadway.

Together with the well-known actor and acting teacher Sanford Meisner , she founded the Classical Studio & Meisner Extension at New York University in 1993 , where she acted as artistic director and teacher. She also wrote a book about Meisner's techniques.
