Daniel Mann

Daniel Mann ; Born as Daniel Chugerman , (born August 8, 1912 in Brooklyn , New York , USA ; † November 21, 1991 in Los Angeles , California , USA ) was an American film and television director .

Life

Since childhood, Mann has been a stage actor and attended New York's Professional Children's School and the Neighborhood Playhouse .

In 1952 Daniel Mann began to gain a foothold in the film world as a director. He showed little sense of visual dynamics, but an excellent ear for dialogue. Most of his films were theater adaptations ( Come Back Little Sheba, Rose Tattoo, Teahouse of August Moon ) or resorted to literary models ( Telefon Butterfield 8 , Last Angry Man ). Mann has worked with Hollywood stars Marlon Brando , Sidney Poitier and Walter Matthau , among others . With his debut film Return, Little Sheba , he received the award for best film drama at the Cannes Film Festival in 1953 .

Daniel Mann died in November 1991 in Los Angeles of heart failure .
