The Lauter is a good nine kilometers long and left tributary of the Thulba in the south of the Bavarian Rhön .

The Lauter rises in the forest window in the village pond. It flows south to Lauter , where it includes the Krummbach and the Katzenbach. Past Schlimpfhof it flows into the Thulba in Oberthulba .
