Lavirco (* 1993 ; † November 9, 2009 ) was an English thoroughbred horse . He was on the stud Fährhof of King chair pulled out of La Virginia.

Like the exceptional peeler Monsun and the 1992 derby winner, Pik König , Lavirco comes from a connection between Königsstuhl, the only German Triple Crown winner, and a daughter of the top stallion from Fährhof, Surumu . His mother, La Virginia, is the full sister of the mother of the successful ferry operator Lomitas . His grandmother La Dorada is also the half-sister of Liranga , who made a name for herself as the mother of the derby winner Lagunas and Lirung .

As a two-year-old, after his maiden victory in Mülheim, he won the winter favorite in Cologne, which was worth DM 330,000 . With victories in the classic Mehl-Mülhens race and the Union race, he consolidated his favorite position for the German Derby , which he then won on very marshy terrain by over four lengths. With an equally superior victory, this time on good ground, he ended his racing career at the European Prize , in which he only had to settle for second place twice. His racing career came to an end so early because a training injury suffered in November 1996 on the right rear ankle joint did not heal satisfactorily.

Lavirco was not as successful in breeding at the Fährhofer stud as it was at the racetrack, which could be due to his diverse relationship with the Fährhofer mares. He therefore moved from his home stud to the French national stud in 2002, where he distinguished himself above all as the father of obstacle horses for the new owner. Group I obstacle winner Mikael D'Haguenet is his most successful descendant there so far. Lavirco's full brother Laveron was already an internationally very successful obstacle horse . Lavirco's best offspring in Germany, the group winners Fight Club and Lolita only made a name for themselves when their father had already left the country.

At the age of 16, Lavirco was put to sleep on November 9, 2009 due to swallowing and digestive problems.
