Price from Europe
The Preis von Europa ( or Europa-Preis ) is a German horse race for three year olds and older thoroughbreds . It has been held annually in September on the Cologne-Weidenpesch horse racing track since 1963 over a distance of 2400 meters . In the German racing calendar, the European Prize replaced the once very important gladiator race over the distance of 2800 meters, but its importance, like that of all endurance races, continued to decline over the course of the 20th century.
The European Prize has been run as a Group 1 race since 1972 . For a long time it was the most highly endowed horse race in Germany. It is now only endowed with € 155,000.
The Russian wonder horse aniline is the only horse so far to have won the European Prize three times.
The 2019 winner, Aspetar, ran the fastest time in the history of this race with a time of 2: 26.00.

The European Prize 2019 took place on November 3rd at the Cologne-Weidenpesch horse racing track. The winner in record time was the gelding Aspetar (Al Kazeem - Bella Qatara), who was trained in England and ridden by Jason Watson .
