Ernest Lawrence Rossi (born March 26, 1933 in Shelton , Connecticut ) is an American psychologist , psychoanalyst , psychotherapist , teacher and publicist in the tradition of Ericksonian hypnotherapy . He researches the " psychobiology of the mind-body healing forces" on neuroscientific and genetic bases. Rossi lives and works in Los Osos , California.

life and work

Ernest Rossi studied Pharmacy in Connecticut, Psychology at Washington State University and Temple University in Philadelphia , where he also received his PhD. 1958 to 1962 training as a Freudian psychoanalyst . He worked at the Mount Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles and cooperated with the psychosomaticist Franz Alexander . He opened a practice, first in Los Angeles , then in Malibu . Ernest Rossi was married to Sheila Rossi from 1963 to 1977 and the couple have two daughters.

Rossi completed a second analytical training, this time after Carl Gustav Jung , and began to publish. In 1972 he met Milton H. Erickson , recorded his therapeutic work in sound and image, transcribed the material and analyzed it together with his teacher.

In the mid-1980s he turned to his own mind-body therapy and has since dealt with the interplay of mind and body, the psychosynthesis of new proteins and the biological attention cycles, especially in trance. His form of hypnosis uses "these natural processes and cycles of life". Rossi's technique also makes it possible to use these recovery phases - in self-hypnosis.

In 1988 Ernest Rossi began studying mathematics. He applied nonlinear dynamics, adaptive and chaotic systems - via the route of the fig tree branches - to creative processes and examined the application of differential equations to therapeutic hypnosis. He has been a member of the Mathematical Association of America since 1992 . He was interested in micro-psychobiology and describes genetic changes in his book from 2002 in the sense of influencing patterns. According to Rossi, psychosocial dynamics can have a positive effect on cell growth, neurotransmitters and cycles. H. Stimulate growth, but also prevent or destroy it. This also applies to creativity and emotional satisfaction, for example after a successful therapy session or hypnotherapy session. Rossi places the mind-body connection and their mutual influence on a genetic basis.

Ernest Rossi is an extremely prolific writer and teacher. To date, he has written or edited 21 books, published 124 articles, ruled three journals and led over a hundred workshops worldwide. Rossi has made a name for himself as the journalistic mouthpiece of his teacher Milton H. Erickson , whose complete works he published in eleven volumes. In 1986 he received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Milton H. Erickson Foundation . Ernest Rossi has been married to the psychologist Kathryn L. Rossi since 1995 .
