Andrasch Starke (born January 4, 1974 in Stade near Hamburg ) is a German jockey in horse racing .

Starke began his training as a jockey in Cologne in 1989 at Bruno Schütz's stable . He finished his apprenticeship in early 1993. Starke was able to achieve his first victory in a group race in 1992 on the Hoppegarten horse racing track with Irish Stew.

He developed into one of the best German riders, which was reflected in several championships (1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2003, 2012, 2013, 2015). He has also won the German Derby seven times with Robertico (1998), Samum (2000), Next Desert (2002), Schiaparelli (2006), Kamsin (2008), Lucky Speed ​​(2013) and Nutan (2015).

In 2000 and 2005 he won the unofficial Jockey World Championship in Hong Kong at Happy Valley Racecourse. In 2011 he was invited again, but only reached 6th place overall. He has celebrated over 2000 victories so far, more than 150 of them in group races .

In 2002 he was banned for six months for using cocaine. However, after the suspension expired, he was able to return to his previously successful career almost seamlessly.

In 2011 he won with the mare Danedream the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe , having previously been the Grand Prix of Berlin , the Grand Prix of Baden (both group 1) and the Oaks d'Italia won (group 2). Another great success followed in 2012 when Danedreams won the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes (Group I, 2,414 m, approx. € 1.28 million) in Ascot .

Andrasch Starke won 2013 Lucky speed , that of Peter Schiergen was trained in the German Derby (Gr. I) in Hamburg. Two years later he set a new track record of 2: 46.50 with the stallion Lucky Speed ​​in Arlington near Chicago in the American St. Leger Stakes (Gr. III).

In 2016 and 2017, Starke won the German Racing Champions League as a jockey .
