Law , often also [LAW] , was a German rock band from Rheinhausen that combined different styles of music such as post-grunge, alternative rock, hard rock and also punk rock.

history

Law was originally founded in 1993 as L ife a fter w eekend by Uli Rogosch, Uwe Skirde and Andy Halfmann. They met at a police station, after a long conversation they decided to start a band and first played songs by U2 , Nirvana and other bands.

They presented their first six own songs 5 months later at a young talent competition in Duisburg, gained their first live experience and emerged victorious. The first studio experience could also be gained in the same year due to the three studio days won through the competition.

After the band had completed their first 90-minute demo tape containing 15 songs in 1996 , they separated from Marc Witt for personal reasons. In the next four years several concerts followed throughout Germany as well as participation in numerous band competitions. In addition, the first album Creature was recorded, which was limited to 500 copies.

In 2000 the band played a few concerts in England under the name Life After Weekend . After signing a record deal with Supersonic in April 2001, the band changed their name to LAW because the old name was often misspelled and was also too long.

With producer Fabio Trentini , the major label debut life after weekend was produced in the Horus Studios in Hanover from June to August 2001 , based on the old band name, and mixed in September at the Nucleus Studios / Berlin . However, the album was not released immediately. In the same month [LAW] went on their first support tour and played with Crosscut for a week in the opening act for Clawfinger .

In February 2002 the first music video for the song XXX was released .

From March 2002 the band was on tour with the H-Blockx as a support act , and the first single XXX was released at the beginning of April of the same year and the debut album life after weekend on April 22nd .

In 2005, the band's last album, In My Head , was released. On January 14, 2006, the band announced their breakup on their website. Some of the members of Law founded the cover band The Punge after the dissolution .

At the beginning of 2015 Law announced a concert in their hometown Duisburg. It took place on May 9, 2015.
