Lawrence James McNamara (born August 5, 1928 in Chicago , USA , † December 17, 2004 in Grand Island , Nebraska ) was Bishop of Grand Island .

Life

Lawrence James McNamara attended Archbishop Quigley Preparatory Seminary . McNamara studied Catholic theology and philosophy at the seminary in Saint Paul and at the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC He received on 30 May 1953, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On January 10, 1978 Pope Paul VI appointed him . to the Bishop of Grand Island. The Archbishop of Omaha , Daniel Eugene Sheehan , gave him the same in the March 28, Saint Peter in Chains Cathedral in Cincinnati the episcopal ordination ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Kansas City-Saint Joseph , John Joseph Sullivan , and the Bishop Emeritus of Kansas City-Saint Joseph, Charles Herman Helmsing .

On October 14, 2004, Pope John Paul II accepted Lawrence James McNamara’s resignation due to reasons of age.
