Basto (musician)
Basto (* 8. January 1975 in Hoogstraten , actually Jef Martens ) is a Belgian House - / Techno - / Trance - DJ and music producer. He is under contract with the label Spinnin 'Records. He also goes by the name Basto! , Bitch Boys , Candyman , Dirty Bunch , DJ Basik and Jin Sonic . Along with his brother Toon Martens, he is also known as Lazy Jay .
Career
He started his career as a DJ and producer in 2005 and initially only had success in Belgium and the Netherlands, for example with Rock with You (2005) and With On My Own (2008).
With Gregory's Theme (2011) Basto had his first success outside of Holland and Belgium with a placement in France. The song was originally written as an orchestral piece (as a theme for Hugh Laurie's legendary TV character Gregory) and was turned into a dance anthem by Basto.
In addition to many remixes for well-known artists such as Kylie Minogue , Milk Inc. or Hardwell , he again attracted international attention in 2011 with the track Again and Again . In 2012 he worked with his brother as Lazy Jay , as well as with the American rapper Azealia Banks . Her single 212 was released in May . As a basto! he released two more songs ( Bonny and I Rave You ) during the year . His single StormChaser was also released that same year. He was also involved as a copywriter on the song Scream & Shout by will.i.am and Britney Spears . In the 2012 DJ Mag ranking, he landed at position 127.
