Leah Cairns (* 2. June 1974 in North Vancouver , Canada ) is a Canadian actress .

Life

Leah Cairns started dancing at the age of three and was active until she was 16. A car accident in which she seriously injured her back forced her to rehab for several months after major surgery. She tried to dance again afterwards, but the injuries were so severe that she gave up dancing professionally. Instead, she traveled to 36 countries around the world over the next 10 years, studying environmental sciences in between . In India she came into contact with acting by chance, so after returning to Canada she decided to study it professionally.

Her first major role was alongside Jason Priestley and Bradley Cooper in the 2004 television comedy I Want to Marry Ryan Banks, which was broadcast and directed by Sheldon Larry . She gained greater international fame through her portrayal of the Raptor pilot Lieutenant Margaret "Racetrack" Edmondson , who she played in the science fiction television series Battlestar Galactica from 2005 to 2009 .

She has been married to Kevin Hawryluk since 2004.
