Leandra Gamine (born September 4, 1994 in Berlin ) is a German pop and jazz singer who sings in English.

biography

Gamine grew up with two older sisters in a musical family in her native Berlin. She started singing at the age of three and began her first attempts at the piano when she was five. At eleven she took her first lessons on the saxophone. She made her first vocal appearances in elementary school. In 2007 she began with her first singing lessons in jazz. Due to Gamine's young age (12 at the time), the singing teacher initially turned her down. But after a vocal rehearsal, she accepted Leandra on the condition that the rehearsed songs would be performed immediately during performances. This was followed by appearances in Berlin's B-flat . In February / March 2008 the singer entered the youth music competition in the new category of pop / song and won the regional and state competition in Berlin and would have been sent to the national competition, but it does not yet exist in this category.

Musical career

Through this competition victory she was discovered by the producer and former E Nomine founder Fritz Graner, who then wrote the title Tango for her . The recordings were made in the AWOMM Studios Berlin. Tango is the artist's debut single and was released on May 22, 2009. The debut album Romance was released on February 12, 2010 on AWOMM Records. Gamine also recorded the song Tango in a Tango-Argentino version. She was accompanied by Luis Stazo and his Berlin group Quinteto Ángel. The album was mixed by Ronald Prent ( Rammstein , Grönemeyer ) and mastered by Darcy Proper in the Belgian Galaxy Studios . Victor Davies ( Ace of Base ) and Chris Zippel ( Pet Shop Boys , Robbie Williams ) contributed their own remixes to the single Tango .

Public engagement

Gamine has been a prominent ambassador for World AIDS Day since November 2008, alongside rapper Samy Deluxe , actress Christiane Paul , speed skater Anni Friesinger and professional soccer player Philipp Lahm . In addition, she is an ambassador for the Berlin AIDS relief organization. On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, the Gamine played the anthem 1989 - The Wall . On June 9th, she presented the new song at a press conference in the Berlin Hotel Adlon. The song was presented in cooperation with the charity campaign Mauerkleider by the Berlin fashion designer Daniel Rodan. a. Udo Lindenberg , Veronika Fischer and Michael Stich participate. The patron of the charity campaign is the Governing Mayor of Berlin, Klaus Wowereit .

Gamine lives in Berlin and graduated from high school in 2012.
