Leandro Gelpi , full name Leandro Gelpi Rosales (born February 27, 1991 in Montevideo ) is a Uruguayan football player .

Career

society

The goalkeeper Gelpi, who is 1.85 meters tall and called "El Toto", comes from the youth teams of Club Atlético Peñarol . In 2009 he was appointed to the Peñarols first division squad by coach Julio Ribas . For the Aurinegros , he played eleven games in the Primera División and one game in the Copa Libertadores since the 2012 Clausura . Since the Clausura 2013 he has been under contract with city rivals Racing on loan . There he played seven times in the 2013 Clausura and four times in the 2013 Apertura until his last appearance on December 14, 2013. For the Clausura 2014 he returned to Peñarol, but was not used in any league game in this half-series. In the 2014/15 season he also did not appear in any first division game for the "Aurinegros" and was then loaned to the league competitor El Tanque Sisley for Apertura 2015 . In the 2015/16 season he played 23 first division games there, but could not prevent the club from relegating. He then returned to the lending club and extended his contract with Peñarol until 2017. He was then again loaned to Gelpi - this time to the Colombian club La Equidad . So far (as of July 25, 2017) he has made 13 premier league appearances and five in the Copa Colombia .

National team

Gelpi was part of the Uruguayan U-20 selection . From his debut, which he celebrated under coach Juan Verzeri on July 31, 2010 in the game against Paraguay, he played a total of eight matches with the U-20s, according to the AUF . He took part with the team in the 2011 U-20 World Cup in Colombia . 2012 was Arias member of the Olympic Team of Uruguay at the Olympic Summer Games in London . However, according to the AUF, there was no use in this team.
