The Lech de Crespëina is a mountain lake in Val Gardena in the Puez group between the Col Turond , the entrance to the Lietres valley and Sass Ciampac . Geologically, the lake lies on Raibler layers . The water is clear and shimmers green because of the soil that is overgrown with algae. The lake does not contain any fish. It is located a few hundred meters away from the Dolomites high path No. 2 , between the Crespëinajoch and the Ciampaischarte . He once was the Vallunga by Lietrestal a by CAI - AVS accessible section Val Gardena in 1960 opened the gate. However, the path is no longer accessible and overgrown by mountain pines in the lower part of the valley.

The lake is part of the Puez-Geisler Nature Park .

Legend

Karl Felix Wolff describes the Lech de Crespëina in his legends and how “wild people”, the Cristanes and Salvanes , lived up there. In Val Badia , the population believed that the wild people of the Gardenazza retreated into the rocks using rope ladders.

The old Ladin name of the lake is said to have been Lech de Lietres . The name Lietres, like that of the adjoining valley and the Lietresturm, means "ladders" that the "savages" set on fire to escape persecution.
