Lechsend is a parish village and part of the parish of Marxheim , in the Graisbach district , in the Donau-Ries district in the administrative district of Swabia ( Bavaria ).
The district includes the village of Graisbach, the parish village of Lechsend and the desert Erlhöfe (also Edelhöfe ). Lechsend got its name from the Lech confluence with the Danube since about 1864. Previous names were “Lechesmundi, Lechesgemunde, u. Ä. “The mouth is about 1.9 km away and was created by changes in the course of the rivers Danube and Lech in the past.
Lechsend as well as Graisbach and these are among the border towns of the Alemannic dialect area to Bavarian . The main town of Marxheim is already part of the Bavarian dialect area.
Until June 30, 1972, Lechsend was part of the Graisbach community in the Donauwörth district . This was incorporated into the Marxheim community on July 1, 1972. As far as the documents go back, Lechsend and Graisbach are inseparably linked.
The Catholic parish Sankt Vitus in Lechsend belongs to the parish community of Marxheim in the deanery Donauwörth in the diocese of Augsburg . Graisbach and the Erlhöfe also belong to the parish.
Lechsend is home to the Lechsend castle stables , the castle hill of the lost Lechsgemünd castle .
