Lee Humphrey (born April 23, 1984 in Maryville , Tennessee ) is an American basketball player . After studying in his home country, where he won the NCAA Division I Basketball Championship twice in 2006 and 2007 with the Florida Gators , Humphrey turned professional in Europe. He also played three seasons for the German first division club ratiopharm Ulm in the basketball league from 2008 to 2011. The good long-distance shooter, who is known for his high hit rate beyond the three-point line , has been playing for BK Kiev since the 2013/14 season Ukraine .
Career
Between 2003 and 2007, Lee Humphrey played while studying at the University of Florida in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) for the college team Gators , with which he became Division I champions in 2006 and 2007. During this time his talent for distance throws was discovered, as he often made headlines due to important situations during the game. In the game against the Oregon Ducks, for example, he destroyed the net so much with a three-point throw that the game had to be interrupted for ten minutes.
The attempt to assert himself in top European leagues initially remained unsuccessful for Lee Humphrey. Frequent club changes and short seasons were the result. Only after starting at ratiopharm Ulm was he able to build on his successes from the NCAA. In the first season he was able to set up a hit rate of almost 44% from the three-point line and hit most of the three-pointers of the 2008/2009 season. Lee Humphrey was the captain of ratiopharm Ulm from the following season.
For the 2011/2012 season he left Ulm and returned to the USA. There he received a contract in the NBA Development League (D-League) with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers .
For the 2012/2013 season he returned to Europe and moved to the second French league LNB Pro B for ASC from Denain . After a season he went to the Ukraine for the basketball club from the capital Kiev .
