Lee Kyoung-mi (* 1973 in Seoul ) is a South Korean film director and screenwriter .

Life

Lee studied Russian at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies . After working for a company for three years, she decided to study at the Faculty of Film, TV & Media at the Korea National University of Arts . In 2004 she received her degree in directing . Her short film Feel Good Story , released in 2004, about an employee trying to find out how his company can avoid taxes, received several film festival invitations.

In 2005 she worked as an assistant director for Park Chan-wook on the film Lady Vengeance . He produced Lee's feature film debut Crush and Blush in 2008 . This celebrated its world premiere at the Busan International Film Festival . She won the Blue Dragon Award for Best New Director for the film .

She also played minor roles in Ryoo Seung-wan's films such as Timeless (2009), The Unjust (2010) and The Berlin File (2013).

In 2015 she released the thriller The Truth Beneath with Son Ye-jin in the lead role.

In 2018, Lee married the Irish film journalist Pierce Conran, who has been based in Seoul since 2012. He also had an appearance in the segment play, set and win of the episode film Persona (2019), which Lee directed.

In 2020 she adapted a novel by Chung Serang for Netflix as a series that will be published under the name The School Nurse Files .
