Lee R. Bobker

Lee Robert Bobker (born July 19, 1925 in Belle Harbor , Queens , New York City , † December 28, 1999 in Greenwich , Connecticut ) was an American film director and producer , who was best known for his documentaries .

Life

Bobker began directing and producing several documentaries in the late 1950s. The documentary he shot in 1958, Psychiatric Nursing , was nominated for an Oscar at the 1959 Academy Awards in the category of best documentary .

He received further nominations for the documentary short films The Odds Against (1966) at the Academy Awards in 1967 together with Helen Kristt Radin and for The Revolving Door in 1969 .

For the biographical television film I, Leonardo: A Journey of the Mind (1983) with Frank Langella as Leonardo da Vinci , which he, Chandler Knowles and Helen Kristt Radin produced , he and his co-producers were nominated for an Emmy for the most outstanding television documentary film.
