Lee Sang-hee (* 1945 ) is a retired South Korean politician and general .

Career

Lee Sang-hee graduated from the Military Academy in 1970 and from the College of Liberal Arts & Science at Seoul National University in 1974 . In 1995 he reached the rank of general and worked in various command functions until 2005. In 2003 he was promoted to four-star general. From 2005 to 2006 he served as a total of 32nd Chairman of the General Staff of the South Korean Armed Forces before he finally retired from the military. He was succeeded by Kim Kwan-jin .

On February 29, 2008, he succeeded Kim Jang-soo as Minister of Defense of the Republic of South Korea. He held this office until September 2009, before he was replaced by Kim Tae-young .
