Lee Selby (* 14. February 1987 in Barry , Vale of Glamorgan , United Kingdom ) is a British professional boxer and former IBF world champion in the featherweight . He is the older brother of boxer Andrew Selby .

Amateur career

Lee Selby was an amateur Welsh Featherweight Champion in 2006, and Welsh Lightweight Champion in 2007 and 2008.

Professional career

Under the manager Chris Sanigar, he switched to professional and won his debut on July 12, 2008. His first major success he achieved on September 17, 2011 by an early victory against Stephen Smith , making him British and Commonwealth champion in featherweight. He then managed to defend his titles several times, as well as winning the WBC -International title on July 13, 2013 against Viorel Simion and on February 1, 2014 winning the EBU -European featherweight title against Rendall Munroe.

With further victories against Romulo Koasicha and Joel Brunker, he got a World Cup chance of the IBF against Yevgeny Gradowitsch on May 30, 2015 and defeated him prematurely in the eighth round. In his first title defense, he beat Fernando Montiel unanimously on October 14, 2015 . After defeating Eric Hunter in 2016, he was able to defend his title against Jonathan Barros and Eduardo Ramirez in 2017 .

On May 19, 2018, he lost his IBF title by losing points to Josh Warrington . In October 2019, he defeated Ricky Burns .
