The twin sisters Lee (born October 9, 1922 in East St. Louis , Illinois - † September 7, 2015 ) and Lyn Wilde (born October 10, 1922 in East St. Louis, Illinois - † September 11, 2016 in Michigan City ) were American actresses and singers who appeared in several film productions in the 1940s. They also appeared under the name The Wilde Twins .

Life

The siblings were born in East St. Louis. Lee just before midnight on October 9, 1922, Lyn in the early hours of October 10. Already in their youth both sang in the church choir, later also on local radio stations and at performances in Illinois and Kentucky . They graduated from East St. Louis Senior High School in 1939.

Since 1940, both siblings sang in a band. Two years later they made their film debut as singers in the Charlie Barnet Band in Juke Box Jenny . After two more film appearances at the side of Bob Crosby and Judy Garland , both were signed to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer for seven years in 1943 . Lee and Lyn Wilde performed as a duo until 1949, when Lee ended her career after the birth of their daughter. Lyn Wilde played in small supporting roles in some well-known music films until 1953 , before she also gave up her career and retired into private life.

Lyn Wilde was married to Jim Cathcard from 1942 until his death in 1970. The couple had two children together. She was married to Dwight Oberlink since 1973, before he died in 1996. Her sister Lee married Thomas Matthew Cathcard (Jim Cathcard's brother) in 1947, with whom she stayed until his death in 2010. The couple had no children.

Lynn Wilde died on September 11, 2016 at the age of 93 in a Michigan City hospice. Her sister Lee died in September of the previous year.
