Lehmbruch is a location in the north of the Bergisch city ​​of Wuppertal .

Location and description

The location is at an altitude of 241  m above sea level. NHN near Hainstrasse in the middle of the residential area Nevigeser Strasse in the Uellendahl-Katernberg district . Neighboring locations are Amschlag , Holländische Heide , Schützenhof , Eschenbeek , Am Bredtchen , Dreckloch and Kuckelsberg .

To the north of the village is the Bredtchen cemetery.

Etymologically, ' clay ' (or 'glue') indicates the nature of the soil, 'Bruch' (also 'Broich' or 'Brok') means a wet meadow, bog soil or swamp.

history

In 1832 Lehmbruch belonged to the Mirker Rotte of the rural outskirts of the parish and the city of Elberfeld . The place, which was also categorized as a craftsman's apartment according to the statistics and topography of the Düsseldorf administrative district , was referred to as Im Leimbruch and at that time owned two residential buildings and two agricultural buildings. At that time, 37 residents lived in the village, 13 of them Catholic and 24 Protestant.

In the address book from 1850 and 1858, the location is noted as Im Lehmbruch , in the Elberfeld overview plan from 1872 as Leimbruch . In the address books in 1864, 1868/70 as earth quarry and from 1875 in earth quarry . It is not known exactly when the street Im Lehmbruch was given its name.

Historical building stock no longer exists in 2012, older buildings were laid down between 2001 and 2005 and a new development area with around 30 single-family houses was opened up from the Im Lehmbruch street in the 2000s .
