The Leibniz Gymnasium is a state high school in the Saarpfalz district . It is the largest in St. Ingbert and, as a UNESCO project school of education, is committed to international understanding and cooperation in all school and extracurricular areas.

Educational work

From the 8th grade onwards, the school offers the option of choosing between a modern language branch (focus on modern foreign languages, with Spanish as an additional foreign language) and a mathematical and scientific branch (focus on physics (written subject), chemistry and biology ).

Foreign language teaching

At the school, English is taught as the first foreign language from grade 5 , French as the second from grade 6 and, in the modern language branch, Spanish as an additional third foreign language from grade 8 . As part of a working group, there is also the option of acquiring the DELF language diploma in French .

Bilingual teaching

The Leibniz-Gymnasium provides in 8th grade tuition in geography and in grade 10 in the subject history in the English language.

After the autumn vacation 2016, the old building was occupied again; Physics, biology, chemistry and music are now stationed there, and grades 10–12 are taught here. Old building ( 49 ° 16 ′ 20.1 ″  N , 7 ° 6 ′ 56.4 ″  E ). Directly next to the old building is the new building, in which grades 5–9 are taught. On the site of the former school gymnasium, there is now a new building in which the cafeteria, toilets and afternoon care are located.

Furnishing

In addition to the teachers' rooms and the classrooms, there are two biology halls, three physics halls, three chemistry halls, a gym that can be divided into three compartments, two visual arts halls, two music halls, a room for social sciences, a mediator room, three media rooms, a Workroom, a photo laboratory, two computer rooms, an internet meeting point, a bistro, an exercise room for the voluntary all-day school (FGTS), a homework room, a student library with a lending facility and a library for the FGTS.

IT equipment

The IT equipment includes around 45 networked computers with Internet (DSL) and intranet, an Internet meeting point with eight freely accessible computers, data projectors (mobile and permanently installed in several function rooms), mobile PC stations, scanners and printers. All rooms in the old building and the extension are networked and have internet access.

Partnerships

The Leibniz Gymnasium has a partnership with a school in Bulgaria. There are also regular bi-national encounters with French students, and there is also an exchange between Spain (Palencia).
