Leif Aare

Leif Göran Peder Aare (born August 1, 1933 in Stockholm ) is a Swedish music critic, writer and pianist.

Life

Leif Aare studied piano with Olof Wibergh (1890–1962) at the Royal Music Academy in Stockholm from 1952 to 1956 and made his debut in 1957 with a solo recital in Stockholm. Occasional appearances on Sveriges Radio followed. From 1957 to 1958 he studied in Rome at the Accademia Santa Cecilia with Carlo Zecchi . He also studied with Gottfrid Boon (1886–1981) in Stockholm. Between 1960 and 1966 he was a music critic for Stockholms-Tidningen and from 1966 to 1970 for Göteborgs Handels- och Sjöfartstidning . He then worked at Dagens Nyheter until 1998 . Every year he wrote over a hundred concerts and performances reviews. He also wrote biographies, in 1978 on the composer Allan Pettersson and in 1995 on the conductor Sixten Ehrling . He wrote the musicological articles for the supplements for various LPs and CDs. He lives in Sigtuna .
