Leif Arne Heløe

Leif Arne Heløe (born August 8, 1932 in Harstad , Fylke Troms ) is a Norwegian politician of the conservative Høyre , who was Minister of Social Affairs in the Willoch government between 1981 and 1986 . Later he was from 1991 to 2000 District President ( Fylkesmann ) of the Fylke Troms.

Life

Heløe, son of taxi operator Leif Holm Heløe and cashier Aslaug Olivia Øyen Thoresen, graduated from the intercommunal secondary school in Harstad between 1946 and 1952 and then began studying dentistry at the Norwegian School of Dentistry ( Norges Tannlegehøgskole ), which he joined in 1956 Graduated from the academic degree of Candidatus odontologiæ (cand.odont.). After a year-long employment as a dentist at the Ramsund naval base , he worked as a school dentist in Harstad from 1957 to 1960 and as a district dentist and expert in the Harstad dental district from 1960 to 1969.

He began his political career in local politics and was a member of the city council from 1959 to 1963 and then a member of the Harstad municipal council between 1963 and 1967, before he was last mayor of Harstad between 1967 and 1969. In addition, he was between 1960 and 1965 chairman of the youth organization of his party ( Unge Høyre ) in Fylke Troms and from 1961 to 1965 also a member of the central board of Unge Høyre. At the same time he was from 1963 to 1966 chairman of the Høyre-Stadtverband Harstad and then between 1966 and 1968 chairman of the Høyre-Verband in Fylke Troms. At the same time he acted from 1964 to 1967 as Vice-Vice-Chairman of the Advisory Board of Harsted Hospital. He was also a member of the Fylke Troms committee from 1967 to 1969.

Between 1965 and 1973 he was an alternate member of the Storting for the Fylke Troms. In the meantime, in 1966, he also worked as a state dentist in Fylke Troms. For many years Heløe was also involved in the cultural life of Norway and was among other things chairman of the advisory board of the Nord-Norge Festival from 1964 to 1968, chairman of the advisory board of Hålogaland Teater in Tromsø from 1971 to 1973 and chairman of the advisory board of Riksteatret from 1973 to 1980 in Nydalen .

During this time he received a research grant from the Norwegian General Research Council NAVF ( Norges Almenvitenskapelige Forskningsråd ) between 1970 and 1971 and then from 1971 to 1974 a grant to the University of Oslo , where he wrote a dissertation on A socio-dental study in 1974 a disadvantaged rural population obtained the doctorate odontologiae (Dr.odont.). In 1991 Heløe, who was appointed commander of the Order of the Lion of Finland in 1994, succeeded Martin Buvik as Governor ( Flykesmann ) of Fylke Troms and held this post until he was replaced by Vilgunn Gregusson in 2000.
