Leinach is a district of Sulzfeld in the Lower Franconian district of Rhön-Grabfeld ( Bavaria ).

geography

Leinach is located in the Main-Rhön region in the Lower Franconian part of the Grabfeld at the foot of the Haßberge . The Leinach, which rises in the local area, is a source stream of the Lauer . The Franconian Marienweg runs through Leinach .

history

In 1219 goods were first called "Lynahe". The place name is derived from the Old High German "Linboum" ( Norway maple ) and "oh" for water. The first settlers are said to have immigrated from Bohemia . In 1302 the "Lords of Leinach" were called. In 1356, Bishop Albrecht II of Würzburg confirmed the monastery of St. Burkard in the cathedral city of Güter in Leinach. In 1630 Leinach was a Ganerbendorf , d. H. several nobles had estates in the community.

In 1699 Leinach came to the Stadtlauringen office , and in 1804 to the Königshofen office . As part of the Hochstift Würzburg , which belonged to the Franconian Empire , Leinach was secularized in 1803 in favor of Bavaria, then left in the Peace of Pressburg (1805) to Archduke Ferdinand of Tuscany to form the Grand Duchy of Würzburg , with which it finally fell to Bavaria in 1814. Since 1918 the place belongs to the Free State of Bavaria .

On July 1, 1971, Leinach was incorporated into the community of Sulzfeld .

religion

In 1660 the place was a branch of the parish Oberlauringen . 1676–1682 a new church was built, the patron of which was the Bohemian national saint Wenceslaus. The church was expanded in 1830 and replaced by a new building in 1960.
