The symbol printed in the booklet, derived from the Chinese " " ("yi") for change

Leitmotif is a concept album about a man to whom a ghost appears, revealing to him that he is suffering from a mental illness. The protagonist has to visit different cultures around the world in order to reach a higher spiritual level and thus cure his illness. If he can do this, he will develop further, if not, he will die. The story written by bassist Drew Roulette is, in contrast to the lyrics, printed in the booklet . The lyrics of the songs occasionally quote from the story, but don't follow it word for word.

The main theme of the album is change . It is about the personal change of the main character from a religious point of view and the constant change of his whereabouts. A symbol is shown in the booklet, which is derived from the Chinese character for change, which also serves as the “title” for the first song on the album.

On the album there are 5 normal songs and 5 so-called movements , which each describe a change of location in the narrated story.

The individual songs overlap and share melodies that are played in different musical styles. Depending on where the protagonist is staying, the songs contain melodies with an Asian touch as well as jazz influences and oppressive jams .

The title Lechium should actually be Le'chium or Le'chiem , but was written without the apostrophe due to a misunderstanding.

Reviews

  • An ambitious vision drives Leitmotif; a vision that can be better appreciated in its entirety than in its partially frayed details.
