Lenworth Johnson

Lenworth Johnson (* 20th century in Saint John's ) is a lawyer and politician of the United Progressive Party from Antigua and Barbuda .

Education and career

Born to Wally and Ada May Johnson, Johnson received his education at the Foundation Mixed School , which he attended from 1960 to 1967. He then moved to St. Joseph's Academy . There he was a member of the basketball team. After graduating from high school in 1973, he worked for the Bank of Nova Scotia in Grenada . In 1982 he returned to his home country and worked as an accountant . Between 1986 and 1993 he was co-owner of an accounting company. In 1989 he was appointed to the Senate of Antigua and Barbuda . In 1993 he began studying law at Holborn College , London . He graduated from the University of Wolverhampton in 1996 . This was followed by postgraduate studies at Hugh Wooding Law School in Trinidad and Tobago , where he was awarded the Legal Education Certificate . In 1997 he was finally admitted to the bar in his home country. He lost his seat in the Senate in 1994, but was reappointed in 2004. Johnson worked in the Antigua and Barbuda Treasury Department and was chairman of his home country's investment board. Politically, he was involved in the United Progressive Party, whose treasurer he was for a while. In both the 2004 and 2009 general elections , he ran as a candidate in the constituency of St. John's City South , but lost both times to incumbent Steadroy Benjamin of the Antigua Labor Party . Today he works as a lawyer in Saint John's and deals primarily with questions of the law of the sea .
