Leoš Heger

Leoš Heger (born February 11, 1948 in Hradec Králové ) is a Czech doctor, university professor and politician of the TOP 09 party and a former member of the ODS . In the cabinet Nečas he was from July 2010 to July 2013 the Czech Minister of Health .

Life

He studied at the Medical Faculty of Charles University in Hradec Králové, where he has been a lecturer since 1972. From 1990 to 1992 he held the positions of Vice Dean for Development and Chairman of the Academic Senate.

From 1996 to 2009 he was the director of the Hradec Králové University Hospital until he was nominated for the House of Representatives in 2010. He qualified in the field of radiology ( lecturer ) and received the degree of candidate in science (Ph.D.). From 1991 to 1993 he worked as the head of the radiological department of the University Hospital Hradec Králové and after the Velvet Revolution he ran the first CT laboratory in the Czech Republic.

Since 2002 he has worked in local politics as a city councilor in Hradec Králové for the ODS. He was elected to the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic as the representative of the Top 09 party in the 2010 elections. In the region he took first place among the local candidates. In 2008 he ran unsuccessfully for the Senate for the ODS in Senate electoral district No. 45 Hradec Králové, in the 2nd round he lost to the ČSSD nominated Vladímir Dryml . Heger lives in Věkoše .

Awards

He received a gold medal from the Medical Faculty of Charles University in Hradec Králové and the 2007 Manager of the Year award from the city of Hradec Králové as Primus inter pares.
