W. Leo Arndt (born November 6, 1857 in Eilenburg , † November 11, 1945 in Berlin ) was a German illustrator and etcher .

Life

Leo Arndt was born in the Prussian district town of Eilenburg in the province of Saxony . After attending the Art Academy in Leipzig and the universities of fine arts in Berlin and Karlsruhe, Leo Arndt worked as a freelance illustrator and etcher. Many of his etchings, drawings and genre pictures have been exhibited in German museums. During his time in Sarajevo around 1900 he founded a painter's club together with the painter Maximilian Liebenwein and Johanna Kobilca and his brother, the painter Ewald Arndt .

He was a member of the Berlin Artists' Association , the Association of German Illustrators and the former Association of Graphics and a member of the cartel of visual artists.

Leo Arndt had his studio in Berlin-Halensee , Johann-Georg-Straße 21/22. He was married to Anna, nee Möhle, in his second marriage since 1894.
