Kiti ( Greek Κίτι ˈt͡ʃiti ; Turkish : Çite ) is a village in the Larnaka district in the southeast of the Mediterranean island of Cyprus with 4252 inhabitants . It is located around eleven kilometers southwest of the port city of Larnaka . It is known for the Byzantine church Panagia Angeloktisti ( Greek Παναγία της Αγγελόκτιστης ) or Panagia Angeloktisti ("Panagia built by angels"). According to local lore, the residents of Larnaka fled to Kiti during the Arab invasion to escape. They decided to build a church, but that was discarded overnight. Legend has it that an army of angels then built the church overnight. The current name of the church is based on this.

The Larnaca Airport (Larnaca International Airport) is the main international airport of the Republic of Cyprus . It is about seven kilometers from the town center. A new terminal was opened in November 2009, replacing the old one.
