Kato Drys ( Greek Κάτω Δρυς ) is a place in the Larnaka district in Cyprus . At the last official census in 2011, the place had 129 inhabitants.
location
Kato Drys is located in the south of the island of Cyprus at an altitude of 522 meters, about 35 km south of the capital Nicosia , 28 km west of Larnaka and 28 km northeast of Limassol .
The place is on the southeast side of the Troodos Mountains . To the east of the village is the Dipotamos Reservoir , a reservoir. It can be reached via winding roads from the east and west.
Places in the area are Pano Lefkara and Kato Lefkara in the north, Skarinou and Chirokitia in the southeast and Vavla and Lageia in the west.
Population development
In 1831 the population of Kato Drys was 345 people. It rose to 536 by 1946, but subsequently decreased due to urbanization to around 130 today. In recent years, however, more and more locals have started to renovate old houses in the village or build new ones.
