Location of the municipality in the Larnaka district

Zygi is located in the south of the island of Cyprus at an altitude of about 10 meters, about 48 km south of the capital Nicosia , 31 km southwest of Larnaka and 24 km northeast of Limassol .

The place is located directly on the Mediterranean Sea and has a small port, the Zygi Marina . Therefore Zygi is known as a fishing village with several fish taverns in direct harbor. The A1 and the main road B1 run to the north and the Limassol district begins a few kilometers to the west .

The immediate area is more agricultural, about one kilometer to the west, however, are refineries, a cement plant, the Vasilikos power plant (largest and most modern power plant in the country) and the Evangelos Florakis naval base . There there was an ammunition explosion on July 11, 2011 , which severely damaged the power plant and the surrounding area, claiming 15 lives and over 60 injuries.

Places in the vicinity are Tochni and Psematismenos in the north, Maroni in the northeast, Mari in the west and Kalavasos in the northwest.
