Aradippou ( Greek Αραδίππου ) is a town and municipality in the Larnaka district in Cyprus . In 2011 it had 19,228 inhabitants, meanwhile around 20,000.

geography

The municipality is located in southeastern Cyprus north of the city of Larnaka and forms a suburb of them. Therefore, a large part of the population lives in urban areas in Aradippou itself around Larnaka. There are also several industrial areas in the municipality. Places that belong to the parish are Agios Fanourios , Apostolos Loukas and Vlachos . Neighboring cities and towns besides Larnaka are Livadia , Avdellero and Kalo Chorio .

history

Finds from different eras have been made in the place, which prove the long history of the area. Until the Turkish invasion of 1974, the city was mainly inhabited by farmers, until the economy developed strongly in the following period. In 1986, the Aradippou Municipality was officially established.

traffic

The city is very conveniently located, so there are several transport hubs in its area, such as the Autobahn 2 and the A3 , which intersect, the A5 , the B2 and the B5 . To the south is the main airport on the island, Larnaka Airport .
