Pervolia or Perivolia ( Greek Περβόλια , Turkish Bahçalar ) is a place in the Larnaka district in Cyprus . At the last official census in 2011, the place had 3009 inhabitants.

Pervolia is located in the southeast of the island of Cyprus at an altitude of 8 meters, about 42 km southeast of the capital Nicosia , 9 km southwest of Larnaka and 49 km northeast of Limassol .

The place is located near the Mediterranean coast west of the Bay of Larnaca . Larnaca Airport , the most important airport on the island, is about 4.5 kilometers to the northeast . To the south is a lighthouse and to the east is the tower of Rigena from the Venetian era.

Places in the area are Kiti , Dromolaxia and Meneou in the north, Tersefanou in the northwest and Softades in the west.

history

Pervolia was popular with kings and the area rich. The village was named for its lush gardens.

During the Frankish period , which lasted from 1191 to 1489, Pervolia belonged to the Lusignan royal family . The last owner at this time was Charles Lusignan, who was persecuted by King James II for supporting Queen Charlotte . King James II deprived Charles of ownership of Pervolia by decree.

During the Venetian period , Pervolia was sold to the Greek family of Podokatares and the last owner was Ektoras Podokatoras from 1489 to 1571.
