Chirokitia , also Choirokoitia or Khirokitia ( Greek Χοιροκοιτία , Turkish Şirokitya ) is a place in the Larnaka district in Cyprus . At the last official census in 2011, the place had 632 inhabitants. The village is known for the excavation site Chirokitia , which is about 500 m to the east and is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site .

Chirokitia is located in the south of the island of Cyprus at an altitude of 224 meters, about 41 km southeast of the capital Nicosia , 29 km southwest of Larnaka and 29 km northeast of Limassol .
The place is about 7 km from the Mediterranean Sea in the hilly coastal hinterland. The foothills of the Troodos Mountains begin north and west of Chirokitia . The village has a direct connection to the national island traffic with the highway 1 running in the east directly behind the excavation site and the main road 1 from Nicosia to Limassol.
Places in the area are Skarinou in the northeast, Agios Theodoros in the east, Psematismenos , Tochni and Kalavasos in the south and southwest, and Vavla and Kato Drys in the northwest.
