Leonhard Johannes Maria Luchner (born August 16, 1996 in Frankfurt am Main / Heddernheim ), Leo Luchner for short, is a German composer and musician from Frankfurt am Main. He mainly writes orchestral works for films, video games or podcasts .

Career

Luchner was born in 1996 in Frankfurt am Main in the Heddernheim district. He began to play the piano at an early age and since 2003 has been taking clarinet lessons at the Doktor Hoch's Conservatory in Frankfurt am Main. He attended the drawing school grammar school in the German / French bilingual branch. Finally, he put his focus on music and English . He graduated from high school there in spring 2014 .

During his school days, Leo Luchner began producing his own pieces of music. Initially, he tried his hand at producing his own music in the field of hip-hop and dance music. In 2013 he founded the duo "LeLucha" together with Leo Racke. They published several tracks on the online streaming platform Soundcloud . A year later, the duo split again as Leo Luchner's music evolved into the orchestral genre, while Leo Racke continued to release minimalist house music .

In 2015 Leo Luchner produced his first soundtrack for the short film Burned Out by Christopher Schwarz. After several other compositions, including for the educational film emilophelie of the German Multiple Sclerosis Society (DMSG), Luchner began studying musicology in Dresden . He got to know Jeremias Hahn, who has been involved in almost every Luchner production since 2016. They have been working together since then under the acronym "J&L".

In 2017 he was commissioned to write music for the trailer for the ARD crime festival. In the same year the single EP Grand Opening was released , which made it to number 24 in the Soundcloud charts in the “ Classic ” genre worldwide and subsequently earned him a label deal with the Dutch record publisher of the Japanese company amuse .

For the production of Das große Heft at the Saxon State Theater in Dresden (premiere February 2018) he has been working as a light conductor since December 2017
