Leon Augustine Tharmaraj

Leon Augustine Tharmaraj (born April 11, 1941 in Kovalam , Kerala , † January 15, 2007 ) was Bishop of Kottar near Nagercoil in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu .

Life

Leon Augustine Tharmaraj was ordained a priest on March 29, 1965 in Kottar. In 1988 he was appointed and consecrated the seventh bishop of the diocese of Kottar by Pope John Paul II .

He was a past chairman of the Labor Commission at the Indian Bishops' Conference.

Tharmaraj died of complications from cancer.
