Leone Pompucci

Leone Pompucci (born August 15, 1961 in Rome ) is an Italian film and television director and screenwriter .

Life

Pompucci graduated from the "Avogadro di Roma" and studied at the Conservatorio Nazionale di Santa Cecilia . From 1982 to 1989 he was a photographer for numerous Italian and European news magazines (including Panorama , L'Espresso , L'Europeo and Der Spiegel ). He then went to television, where he was responsible for numerous contributions and skits at RAI for programs such as “Mixer” and “Sulla cresta dell'onda”. In 1993 he presented his debut film as a feature film director, the comedy Mille bolle blu , which focused on the solar eclipse of 1961 , was awarded the David di Donatello for best directorial debutante and was a great success with the public. This was lower in the comedic follow-up film Camerieri , which depicted four Sundays of servants, but also received two silver ribbons . In 2000 Il grande botto was released , again produced by Vittorio Cecchi Gori . After twelve episodes of the television series Don Matteo , Pompucci presented La fuga degli innocenti in 2004 , which portrayed the fate of Jewish children in World War II with a star cast. This work has also been honored with numerous awards. It was not until 2012 that another work followed with Il sogno del maratoneta , which is about marathon runner Dorando Pietri .

In addition, Pompucci shot a large number of commercials .
