Leonhard Ritter (born October 30, 1878 in Eyb (Ansbach) , † March 7, 1938 in Bad Kissingen ) was a German architect .

Life

Ritter studied at the building trade school in Nuremberg and at the Technical University of Darmstadt . After employment at the Landbauamt Nürnberg and the Stadtbauamt Würzburg and Bad Kissingen, he went into business for himself as an architect in 1908. In this context, he created numerous properties, including in Aschaffenburg (Main Canal, Zoll-Werfthalle) and Bad Kissingen, many of which are now listed.

In connection with the plan of a publishing house shortly after the First World War to depict knights alongside other architects in a series of "Buildings executed by architects NN", photos of works by Ritter were made. In the end, Ritter decided against printing, but created a photo album with the photos he had taken that lasted until a few years before his death. However, some of the buildings designed by Ritter are missing, such as the property at Bismarckstraße 2 in Bad Kissingen.

In addition to his work as an architect, Ritter also worked as a building expert for the state fire insurance and from 1919 as a sworn appraiser at the Bad Kissingen district court. Ritter was a member of the Bad Kissingen city council from 1930 to 1933 and was also active in the church council and church choir of the Protestant church as well as in the singers' association.

Ritter had two sons.

In 1938, Ritter died of a heart attack at the age of 59 and was buried in the Bad Kissingen park cemetery. After the Second World War , the house of the Ritter family on Bad Kissinger Prinzregentenstrasse was confiscated by the US Army, with many items from the Ritter family being lost.
