Leopold-Theodor Heldman

Leopold-Theodor Heldman (born February 10, 1947 in Detmold ) is a former German diplomat .

Life

Heldman, son of Sieglinde zur Lippe (1915-2008) and Friedrich Carl Heldman (1904-1977), made after high school to high school Leopoldinum 1967-1969 his military service in the Armed Forces and subsequently studied 1969-1974 jurisprudence . After completing his legal preparatory service, he then studied administrative sciences from 1977 to 1980 at the German University of Administrative Sciences (DHV) Speyer .

In 1980 he joined the Foreign Service and, after completing his career test for the higher service, initially worked at the Foreign Office in Bonn from 1982 to 1985 . At the beginning of this activity he put his 1982 promotion to Dr. jur. at DHV Speyer with a dissertation on the subject of conflicts of interest in personnel deployment decisions in civil service law and labor law .

After working at the German Consulate General in São Paulo between 1985 and 1988, he was trade and press attaché at the embassy in Sofia from 1988 to 1991 and then cultural attaché at the embassy in Pretoria until 1995 . After he was again an advisor at the headquarters of the Foreign Office from 1995 to 1995, he was employed as permanent representative of the ambassador in Belgium between 1999 and 2003 .

From 2003 to 2005, Heldman was head of the economic department at the embassy in Poland and then head of a section in the legal department of the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin until 2008 , before he was ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Chad between July 2008 and summer 2010 .

From summer 2010 to mid-2013, Heldman was Consul General in Mumbai ; since then he has been living in retirement in Detmold.

Heldman has been married to Yolaine Macé de Gastines (* 1958) since 1982. The couple has five children.
