Leopold Blonder

Leopold Blonder ( July 1, 1893 in Vienna , Austria-Hungary - September 17, 1932 in Innsbruck , Austria ) was an Austrian film architect and director of German films.

Life

Blonder studied architecture in Vienna before starting to work for Oskar Messter's production company around 1918 . In September 1921 he moved from Vienna to Freiburg im Breisgau . There he met the renowned mountain film specialist Arnold Fanck . For Fanck he set up the films The Mountain of Fate and The Holy Mountain . He then moved to Berlin for five years. At the beginning of the talkie he returned to Fanck again. He was also a film architect for Leni Riefenstahl and Luis Trenker . He died unexpectedly of a typhoid-like disease at the age of 41.
